The restructuring of the electricity market in terms of the new European directive.

Marzena Czarnecka

The task of the European Commission is that electricity markets, including European Union Member States have become fully integrated and open to competition. However, it is essential to ensure continuity of electricity supply.

In addition, provision of electricity involves the possession and use of supply/transmission and distribution infrastructure - the network. One element of creating a free market in energy is the separation of vertically integrated companies in the transmission companies. In order to eliminate discriminatory behavior is necessary to ensure non-discriminatory access to the network. On 13 July 2009. was therefore issued on that field a new European Parliament and Council 2009/72/EC concerning common rules for the internal market in electricity and repealing Directive 2003/54/EC.
